Most of the "no go" effect is due to the underlying autoimmune cause of GCA which often tends to make you feel as if you have flu. At high doses of pred there is also often a boost with the pred euphoria and Duracell Bunny effect - now you are getting to much lower levels that will be missing.

I felt weak and feeble and I think for me it was Pred buildup and the muscle wasting that went with it. It started to get better once I got under about 15mg. However, I mean a general nonspecific no go rather than muscles cramping up becoming uncomfortable upon normal movement.

Same here re muscle weakness and pred. No muscle cramps, just weakness and heavy legs, more noticeable at the end of the day. When I get sleep it is much better. Insomnia has been a problem for me. I’m on a new plan now and am being refunded for the Sleepstation online course that wasn’t suitable for my steroid induced insomnia.

When I got the first signs of PMR in June 2021 my legs felt very odd - rather like long lumps of heavy rubber. I like walking when I go camping and forced myself to follow my tradition but it wasn't pleasant. Just lately, now down to 6mg pred, it sometimes comes back. So instead of bouncing I trudge! Trigger wouldn't have liked this!!!!!(: 😔 😕

Have had this permanently since beginning at 60 mg Pred ( twice) for GCA. Now on 7mg, plus Methotrexate, plus TCZ for past few months, still feel toxic and wobbly-legged daily. Force myself to walk, but 2 plus miles is the limit. Can’t see the day when I feel “ normal” again. Would I even recognise it?

My legs are so weak now I can barely walk at all. I was in hospital (unrelated) recently for two days and the lady next to me, and the lady opposite her had both been in for SEVEN WEEKS, and neither of them could walk at all. Not one step. I stopped complaining! I CAN walk, very, very slowly, and no distance. Will be taking a long-haul flight soon, and have organised wheelchair assistance.

GCA started August straight on to 60mg pred down to 10mg now and yes I’ve got “jelly legs” as I call them, so trying to go out exercising is quite difficult especially now I’ve contracted bloody shingles !!!!
