Inflammatory arthritis vs Osteoarthritis
Inflammatory arthritis is usually inflammation due to an autoimmune disorder attacking the joint and osteoarthritis is usually due to wear and tear on the joint damaging the cartilage lining it but can also be due to injury.

thank you, but then those of us,which is all I suppose, that have or had PMR, or still have , the arthritis we experience would be caused from this autoimmune disease? yet MRI results and rheumy tells me, I have osteoarthritis, how could they possibly tell the difference?
No, just because we have an autoimmune disorder does not mean that the "arthritis" we may have is due to the a/i disorder, PMR doesn't damage joints, the inflammation is in different structures, the soft tissue around the joints, ligaments, tendons and their attachments and the synovium. Inflammatory arthritis is a different disease altogether. But everyone could develop osteoarthritis as well - it is a different process. There are about 100 different forms of inflammatory arthritis and they are all slightly different.

and what they see on x-rays or MRI imaging is also different.
