Did you read down a bit further? The magnetic bracelets were producing great results for other random ailments. Surprised that he didn't suggest those for PMR.
Morning Piglette. Not exactly an in depth article into PMR but at least it gives us some national coverage and touches on some of the problems. There's been all sorts of stories, in the past, about the power of magnets, perhaps its time there was some comprehensive research into the claims.
It was the fact that PMR was mentioned at all that impressed me. The Daily Mail sometimes mentions it but never the Telegraph, so a step in the right direction.
Reading that makes me sad that in England we are restricted to one year's treatment with Tocilizumab for (relapsing) GCA, and not even eligible for it with PMR. Hopefully the body of research may lead to better things for patients in future.
Yes, it is an expensive drug, but being on it for a year (or 2 during the height of the pandemic) and then having to come off it is hard. I am thankful for the quality of life it gave me for 2 years, but sad that I don't feel as well now!
I was pleased that PMR was being recognised - but annoyed by the implication that all cases respond immediately to 15mg prednisolone. Also irritating that toczilizumab is announced as a new drug when in fact it’s available for PMR in many parts of the world (but not the UK).
