after my last post ‘struggling to walk’ and severe leg pain on waking. GP has increased pred (feels like one step forward and two back!!) pain was 80% gone on following day and gone completely the next. Walking is vastly improved.
Although the morning pain was only one leg, and he was bemused, I did have an old injury on that muscle so may be why it was only on one side.
Start to taper after a week if all good but think I need to stay on 7mg, I’d pushed it too far I guess (damnation!)

Claudication is a painful condition normally caused as a result of too little blood flow most commonly while exercising but at times during rest as well. This pain is felt in almost all of the cases in the lower extremities but sometimes it may occur in the upper extremities as well.
I had never heard of this until PMRpro told me years ago.
that’s a really interesting link jinasc, thank you.
My OH has just returned from a demanding trip abroad and has calf pain. He thinks he’s pulled a muscle, I’ve been looking out for symptoms of DVT. This gives me something else to consider - I’d never previously heard of calf claudication. Will get him to GP (hopefully) if it doesn’t resolve.
My SIL had an "episode" the other night while watching TV, His ED paramedic wife wanted to call 999, he got very stroppy saying no, She finally spoke to her boss next day who said bring him straight in. Everything except the ability to follow a moving finger had resolved - but there is something. CT clear, lumbar puncture clear - bafflement, the consultant was sure it was a bleed. Whatever it is - would have been easier to identify at the time. He's not flavour of the week!
OH had a bad leg, sort of fidgety, not painful, for weeks and weeks before finally his foot and ankle swelled up. Went to work and got the vascular technologist to check it. It wasn't the first time she'd been asked apparently and she was just reassuring him it was always fine - when she broke off and "Oh sh ,,,," A DVT ...
I’m aware it could be a problem, but currently it’s soft, not hot or swollen. Have got him a GP appointment (!) for something else on Tuesday so if no emergency over the weekend, will get it checked then.
Why do these things always seem to come up over a weekend/ bank holiday?? 🤦♀️x
