Just recovering from covid this week after coming off a cruise ship!!

GP suggesting upping to 15mg from 3mg. See him again in 2 weeks but know others have suggested increasing by 5mg.

Just want to know what everyone's thoughts are.

Have replied to your PM…replicated here -

Sorry to hear about covid -but you don’t need to go back up to 15mg -As you say usual recommendation is to add 5mg to last dose you felt okay -so to around 8mg -this link explains it-

But it may just be a reaction to to covid not a full blown flare -so a small increase may do the job -certainly don’t need 15mg.

Let us know how you get on please

Was he suggesting it for Sick Day Rules or are you seeming to be in a flare?

He suggests it's a flare

Covid doesn't go away in days - on the other hand, if the pred helps ....

Will try 8mg and see if it helps. I am now negative but still struggling with pain.

This might be a proper flare - and you might need more. Only one way to find out.

Hi Rosshigh, Interesting that you got covid on a cruise ship, I did too, over 600 people got it on the cruise having to isolate at various locations in USA.

I didn’t up my pred though, it took a lot out of me, I was quite poorly for a good 3 weeks.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Mayo treatment on ship was awful. Locked up in a cabin on my own for 8 days and not allowed out!! Not even allowed to leave the ship with hubby at the end. Never again. Have had pmr pain since I came home so gp decided to up steroids temporarily.Hope to be back to normal dosage soon though. No taste and exhausted.

Hi, Same here, we were both locked in our cabin, my husband for a week and then me for 4 days missing various ports, we then had to isolate in a hotel in Long Beach for 5 more days, not allowed out of our rooms.

I was so glad to get home eventually even though I still felt poorly with covid.

Take care.

Yes horrible experience. Hubby never tested positive so he was left to enjoy ports on his own in original cabin. Won't be doing it again that's for sure 🙄

R U having problems getting enough oxygen? Covid causes inflammation especially in the lungs. If this is the case and the reason for the doctor ordering a higher dose like 15mg or even more would be appropriate. However if it's just to deal with a PMR flare then I would agree with the other's comments.

Thanks. Just pmr caused by covid as lungs OK so just upped it by 5mg.

I had Covid last month and the only change to my pred was to delay my next 0.5mg taper by a couple of weeks. I was prescribed the Covid antiviral molnupiravir (Lagevrio) for 5 days, not sure if that’s relevant or not.
