I have managed to taper down to 3.5mgs and managing well ,however ,I have a sensation,I wouldn't really call it pain as in a full flare up,in the right side of my neck spreading upwards from my shoulder .PMR or something else??I'm imagining all sorts#paranoidnow!

My cervical Spondylosis gives me pain like that. I was diagnosed by a neck X Ray.

Seem to have full movement....and it's not an unmanageable pain.Maybe I'll ask for an xrays next time I speak to rheumy.Thanks.

Initial thought, have you done anything to that shoulder or arm that could account for pain? However innocuous. Have you tried painkillers to see if they help, or maybe a muscle rub or cold/heat therapy??..if so unlikely to be PMR. Plus as it’s one-sided would query PMR.

Osteoarthritis maybe?

It's been around for weeks and i seem to be aware of it early morning ,before meds and at night,so thinking when the meds wear off.Pain score maybe 2 out of 10 so not really bothering me ,its just that i worry about all sorts nowadays!!

Maybe try going back to 4mg for a week or so -and see if it makes a difference. Your current dose (if that’s where it started) might just be borderline- and you don’t want to risk getting any worse.

But at low doses other aches and pains come to the fore…so difficult to tell sometimes.

You've done well to get to 3.5mg. It's disheartening when other symptoms crop up. If the sensation you describe is still apparent after a day or two I would advise contacting your GP.

It seems to be ongoing for no particular reason.Think I'm gonna put it down to the dreaded PMR!!

May well be but don't let it niggle away at you without mentioning it to whoever is managing your PMR 😏. Take care.

Have you been in a draft? Changed anything about your bed/pillows? Lifted something awkwardly?

Sounds like sternocleidomastoid muscle problems.

No,haven't done any of that and I've had the same problem for months.Maybe it's due to decreasing my pred.So I think I'll try going back up by .5....Thanks.
