My doctor has asked me to drop from 8mg Pred to 7mg and take some Hydrocortisone (can't pick up the script til tomorrow so not sure of mgs) instead. Will report back on how it pans out.
However, a few days ago I discovered by chance and amazing treatment for hot feet.
Not sure if any of you have suffered/suffer with this but it has been issue for me over the 6 years of PMR and steroid treatment. YouTube recommended a video by a Podiatrist (Podologue in French, a word I prefer). Towards the end of the video he recommends Bio Freeze roll - on. I ordered one and used it for the first time yesterday afternoon. At first I wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped. Put it on again at bedtime (often the worst time for my feet) and had cool feet all night! I am amazed and really happy. Have been in despair of feeling like I am standing on hot radiators.
Thought I'd share, I am sure some of you have the same issues.
Have a good weekend. 🦶🦶

I have been unable to drop from 8mg for some time. My CRP hovers around 4/5. He is hoping that I can drop the Pred with the help of HC and avoid the horrible flashback type things that I get when I drop. I'll give it a go and see how I feel.
We're heading for a week in Normandy at the end of Sept, so I want to be well for that. I won't hang onto the new regime for long if I am not feeling good.
I am not full of energy even on 8mg...just plodding along.
Thea is very well. She's just had a lovely holiday with her cousins, mum and dad and another grand father. She didn't want to come home apparently.
Don't get the logic - it is a corticosteroid, just adds to the pred level and that isn't low enough to encourage adrenal function, However - I hope it works to do something.
I have put aloe vera gel on my feet before. It's for sunburn, so also has a little lidocaine in it. Seemed to work pretty well, but I'll definitely give this Bio Freeze a try.
BTW, does anyone know if the hot feet are due to vasculitis, pred, or something else? Thx
I had that throughout my late childhood and into adulthood. Not had it for years now so the burning feet could be the remnants of that. Itching and swelling was the worse.
I used to call it heatblains as opposed to chilblains.
Mark is always slightly surprised when I don't wear gloves in cold weather. I don't wear slippers in the house either, preferring bare feet most of the year.
I always say to people that my motor runs hot. What's funny is that I had the exact opposite problem as a teen and young adult. Guess I'm kind of backwards that way
I suffer with hot feet, so does my husband, so will try to source this in nz. I've had them for years before pred. Thanks for the tip, would try anything.
