Hearing Loss

This isnt PMR related but I am so worried that it is affecting me. My husband lost hearing in both ears 3 weeks ago. ENT says it will come back but am so worried. Anyone hear of this happening. Grateful for any help.

ENT must have had some very good reason to say your husband’s hearing will come back and must be pretty sure. They are normally doom and gloom just in case something goes wrong.

What do they say is causing it? Have they put him on pred? That would be a usual sort of procedure.

Mine lost a lot of hearing overnight due to chemo in his early 40s. His never came back and wasn't expected to. As piglette says - ENT are usually doom and gloom so there must be some hope.

Thank you PmrPro, for your prompt reply. That was my hope that they would put him on steroids but they said no reason to. They gave no reason for it happening only gave him a Steroid nasal spray and would keep it under review.
