I should be tapering to 2 mg next month,
I seem to remember reading here that Professor Dasgupta recommends staying on 2mg for quite a while.
Any recommendations from the forum?
Thanks in advance

Others will be along soon, but as I understand it, reducing should be dependent on how you feel and at low doses, the taper should be as slow as poss to reduce adrenal related issues. I am on the way from 4 1/2 to 4 and it is a slow process with slow progress!
Yes he does -but as you have Palindromic Rheumatism rather than PMR not sure the procedures are quite the same… are you tapering to zero, or do you need to be on a low dose of Pred permanently?
I don't know !!! Very few resources for Palindromic Rheumatism on the web. But it is treated with Prednisilone - so I come here to look for advice.
He said he often kept patients on 2-3mg longer term as it reduced the risk of relapses. I think that was a tacit way to say PMR lasts longer than we admit!!
However - I think you can often get lower than that - 1mg can be enough to keep the wolf from the door and if it is, isn't that preferable? I think creeping on down with the smallest steps you can manage and a very slowed slow taper might even get you to zero. But if it does go pear-shaped, bail out and go back.
Pertinent to me and others I’m sure. Currently 2.5 and in a weeks time I could start tapering to 2, but I’m now telling myself to s-l-o-w down and extend the interval before attempting another 0.5mg tapered drop. I’m thinking from 2mg I’ll extend DL’s 5w taper to 10 weeks. I’ll see…
