This forum is a key part of keeping me sane when faced with the trials of PMR, and I feel I am amongst friends who 'get' me even though I haven't actually met many of you yet. I'd love to know what you all look like, put faces to names and say hello. Shall we have a HU Zoom? You can stick to your HU moniker and don't have to reveal your real name unless you want to. Just a quick show of hands if anyone is interested in the idea?
UPDATE: I'm absolutely delighted to see such a magnificent response but sorry I can't keep up with all the lovely replies so will ask Admin to turn off commenting for the moment, but I will come back to you all and get it organised at some point if can find a way forward, probably September. Cheers TCx

That's a lovely idea, so count me in if we can find a good moment. My niece is staying with us over the summer (with the second one arriving at the beginning of August, so it may be tricky, but I would like that very much.
You can count me in! I have been a bit more absent from the forum in recent years partly because I am a bit bored after 10 years but I would especially like to meet people who have been around a long time!
I am fairly recently retired and I'm afraid Zoom reminds me of awful work sessions during lockdown where I was unable to make my voice heard 😕, but I do think it's a good idea in this context. I'm on GMT+2 in summertime. Depends what on time. I'm sort of afraid of getting discouraged because I'm at the start of my journey and I know a lot of you are years and years in with no real end in sight. I'm still hanging on to the idea that I might be able to stop Pred completely some day!
We'd be positive and encouraging, as I hope we are on here? The main idea would be to have a laugh and a drink together, might not even discuss PMR at all
I’d love to but I’m away a lot - coming and going - so it’ll very much depend on when it is and where I am. I missed the last leeds zoom - was kicking myself - metaphorically obviously, I can’t seem to get my foot high enough to kick my bum 😂😂😂
I’d very much like to be a part. I’m flexible time-wise because of a raging case up at night after 5 hours of sleep. 2am eastern time (or 7am your time) until way past bedtime in the UK.
Would very much like to. Thank you for the invitation! Look forward to hearing when. And the idea of a drink ((G&T is mine) is something nice to look forward to. 👍🏻
Of note a group of 4 of us started monthly Zoom meetings for those with PMR/GCA locally in Ontario, Canada. We’ve grown to about 10 members now and I will say that the Zoom format provides for more personal engagement with others.
It says 40 but in my experience you only get 30. If it's only 2 people it's unlimited, but more than that you only get 30 mins. After time is up though you can carry on if everyone clicks on the link again, for another 30 mins and so-on. So no need to set up umpteen meetings.
Yes - noticed the "reuse the link" bit when I joined the other day. Maybe the time is gradually reducing - it was an hour for ages, then 40 mins. Just like Skype was, free to start with ...
Love the idea! Never Zoomed before but I’d like to try - and it would be fascinating to see faces and hear voices - I think it would be really positive!
Tangocharlie did you have any idea that you’d get such a good response. Well done not only for suggesting it but also for digging yourself out of that hole. Count me in please.
I’d be interested. Great idea. It would be lovely to put some faces to our names. I’m not good at the technical stuff these days but would give it a try.
I ought to be able to do that with a background as a trainer/facilitator but it would need a bit of ideas and planning in advance on my part, and controlling on the day #HerdingSheep LOL
Great! Could consider some smaller breakout groups that rotate, kind of like speed dating🙂 Or toss a couple of questions to the group and see what bubbles to the surface? Happy to help any way I can. I’ve done a fair bit of facilitating but usually smaller groups (10-20).
This is great, shows me there is an interest, sorry can't respond to everybody now, will go away and think about dates, logistics re numbers etc, maybe @Fran and Candy will let us use the PMRGCAuk Zoom account. Probably best to wait til September now as so many people are on summer holidays before then. May have to turn off commenting on this post as I'm getting so many emails alerts I can't keep up, but as Arnie says, I'll be back ....
I find friends more useful than family in their understanding. Some of the latter just think I'm a lazy git who eats too much and need to do more exercise and I'll be fine (must be why I'm overweight and stiff)
Agree family don’t understand. Think it is an excuse for doing nothing. Find this forum the best thing that has happened since my diagnosis nearly 5 years ago 😊
This is going to sound really complicated, but perhaps we need to divide ourselves into areas of the UK and abroad. I’m afraid I’m pretty useless on this kind of stuff but I think it’s a great idea for anyone will inf to take on the challenge.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Might have to do that if time zones aren't compatible, but it'd be good to feel part of a global family too. I will have to go away and think how best to do this
Yes, but that really defeats TC’s aim . There are already UK zoom meeting based on the groups already in existence. Her view was to make it global -although they may prove testing -to put it mildly!
