Weird feeling after 3-4 hours of taking Pred?

I have been experimenting with when to take the morning dose to better get through my mornings. 4-5AM is the best - back to sleep get up at 6.30 AM. However I seem to get some weird feeling of lightheadedness or brain fog after 3-4 hours of dosing - as if slightly drunk and uneasy. It pases after some hours. I am on 15 mg. Does anyone else have this?

Yes totally with you. Usual enough for Pred for some people. I found it very unpleasant and trying to work at the time. It does lessen as you reduce the dose. I hate that spaced feeling.

Hello, it made me so wobbly and drunk that I had to take it at bedtime. The effect was worst on higher doses and got better with lowering .

I did for a time and I know several others who experienced it too. Some of them took their pred before bed so they slept through it and that worked well for them

Yes, me too. The tide still goes out suddenly at lunchtime, even on smaller dose.

I'm allergic to some brands of Pred, esp the Accord one, brings on a kind of allergic reaction and sudden drowsiness as if I've been drugged. That doesn't sound the same as you describe but I'm posting in case others are affected the same way.

So that is not working. I am better in the early morning, but then I become stiff and tired at 2 PM. So I am now back to taking it at 3-4 AM where I wake every night for some reason, and cannot go back to sleep for 1½ hours. Still fell flu-like in the morning untill lunch.

Have you thought of splitting the dose? Sounds as if you are one of the people where the antiinflammatory effect of pred doesn't last a full 24 hours - by splitting the dose you can extend the duration of the effect and avoid that return of symptoms. Usual suggestion is about 2/3 as the main dose early morning, the rest later enough to achieve the desired effect.

Sounds like an idea. So 5 mg by bedtime (maybe I will sleep then) and 10 mg when I get up?

Just experiment a bit to find which mix works best for you with your personal difficulties.
