I got my ultrasound done.Turns out it's not a prolapse but did show endometriosis with a small growth.Scary stuff. Two days later woke up with a terrible bladder infection.I went to emergency the Dr said it's was a bacterial infection.Told me if it didn't clear up get the dr to put you on a stronger med.So aft a few days no improvement I went to see my dr and he just gave me more of the same meds that aren't clearly working. The infection starts to clear then comes back.Iam losing hope at this stage.
What next: I got my ultrasound done.Turns out it's... - PMRGCAuk
What next
Try this " old wives tale" - teaspoonful bi-carb in as little water as possible.........repeat after two hours. Next day repeat hopefully it should have cleared by then.
Dear Life,Please give this lady a day off; she needs it. She has had a plateful of misery and medical mucking about, so how about it?
Yours Truly,
Snazzy
Have you tried daily D-Mannose? I can’t remember. Was the “bacterial” infection confirmed with a urine culture? If so, did they do a sensitivity to antibiotics analysis? They should have done with recurrent UTI’s.
It was confirmed a bacterial infection.I haven't had one in over twenty years. The emergency just took a urine sample.I think iam running out of options.I haven't tried D-Mannose yet.
Iam afraid of it being antibiotic resistant.
They have to use the right antibiotic - and they SHOULD test to identify it. And the receptionist got HER qualifications at WHICH medical school?
If the symptoms are returning they can still find bugs in the urine. And a sample should have been taken and sent to the lab originally before starting abx. However, if the abx they are using is he wrong one - then the culture of the bacteria causing the problem will still come up postive.
I know the receptionist gives way to much medical advice which she isn't qualified for.I am getting a phone call from my dr so hopefully he ll send me to lab.I don't see the point in taking the same meds if they aren't working.
Have you told the practice manager? I would. I don't mind when it is correct - but it isn't her call for a culture to be done or not.
I will mention it when the dr calls or a nurse.Thats all I get is phone calls. The resident dr in training never explained to me about my uterus issues either. When I asked he said a biopsy. So of course iam thinking iam dying now.
Confirming it is a bacterial infection isn't the same as doing a sensitivity culture to find the ideal antibiotic. That takes a few days and must be done in the lab. The dipstix test only shows if there are white cells and nitrites in the urine which are usually suggestive of bacteria being present - but they aren't reliable in older patients.
I swear by Mannose - D - Waterfall. It immediately stops the burning for me. You really need to push your doctor to try another antibiotic for the bacterial infection though.
