My question is if Pred contributes to cataract formation, if you get surgery done would that mean the Pred would not affect your eyes again?
I have been in higher doses of Pred 10 mg for 2 weeks for a flare, now back stable at 5 mg but my eyesight is v blurry has gradually got worse over the past few weeks
Thanks for any advice

Once a cataract has been removed and the lens replaced with an artificial lens, no further cataract can form. What CAN happen is that cells multiply and form an opaque film over the surface of the lens - and it is removed by laser treatment. It can happen whether you are on pred or not and is very common
Interesting. Thank you Dad2Cue 😊 I hadn’t absorbed that pred could contribute to glaucoma. I am already at higher risk due to family history and have regular checks - but even so, it’s a reminder never to miss one x
Dry eye can cause blurry vision too. Could be pred/pmr related, but any sight problems should always be checked. I have had cataract surgery on both eyes but still get blurry vision from time to time, especially when very tired.
I have heard it does but optician can tell you if the cataracts are caused by steroids. I had both done when on pred and all ok - mine weren’t caused by the tablets.
There are 2 types or positions of cataract and one of them is purely due to steroids. However, if you are developing cataracts anyway, pred is likely to speed up the process.
Hi - am on pred at 4.5 now but been much higher. Was told steroids made the cataracts grow more quickly. So I had both cataracts done together- amazing. Distance sight put right also. Was told by surgeon they won’t come back. If they do- find the surgeon and go again. I was definitely told they wouldn’t. Good luck - I asked for a GA which I got. Warmest wishes B
