What does “pred” mean?

It is short for prednisolone or prednisone which is given to people with PMR

Do you have Polymyalgia rheumatica or GCA? If so, you will be given a corticosteroid which on this forum we call pred for short.

Here in the UK we are prescribed Prednisolone, in the USA & some other Countries they are Prescribed Prednisone, the difference is the way the drugs are metabolised. We tend to say ‘Pred’ so as to cover both options. We have an Abbreviation List in FAQ’s which you may find helpful & l will attach it below for you.
