Hi.

The only real reason for splitting the dose is if the dose you are on doesn't last for a full 24 hours. Are you intending staying at 10mg after the flare or is it just the "add 5mg for up to a week and then return to the dose above where you flared" scenario? The dose you were at before flaring is also critical as is the timing of the two doses so would need to know a bit more before commenting further.
Thank you, the 10 is to hopefully to control the flare, I just started it yesterday, but had been on 7.5 for 12 days prior to that. I was on 5 when the flare occurred, and was hoping to go back to maybe 7.5 when I was pain free.
Splitting the dose worked and is working for me. I felt reborn and am forever thankful to this forum as that is where I got the suggestion from.
Hello, I have always split my dose in order to be fit to get out of bed in the morning, but I’m sure I have read on this forum that below 7mg it is better to take it as one dose.I flared at 7mg and my GP said to return to 10mg for a month, then drop to 9mg, so I haven’t managed to get to 7 again yet.
Incidentally I did find at 7.5 mg and using coated 2.5mg pred tablets as the late dose that I had to take them earlier than uncoated pred to achieve a better effect in the morning, I guess that’s because they are slow release.
