These are antihistamines but are commonly used to aid sleep. I believe that they can be purchased over the counter in a pharmacy. Do you think they caused your symptoms? I find that Magnesium helps me to feel sleepy at bedtime. No ill effects at all.

Hi Ronzy 😊

I have taken Phenergan for allergies, and found it made me feel very woozy the next day. I now avoid it whenever possible.

I take a magnesium supplement and touching wood, that helps with cramp and also I seem to sleep better 🤞

All the best you you, hope you feel better tomorrow x

I’m a great fan of Phenergan because it does three jobs in one, motion sickness/labyrinthitis , allergies and sleeping. BUT I can only take 2.5-5mg otherwise I feel hung over and achey the next day. 25mg would make unresponsive I expect! I have to use the liquid to be able to get the right dose for me. Unfortunately you can now only get it on prescription because apparently the liquid can be used by addicts in the wrong way. The other thing is that it isn’t meant to be used as a long term solution for sleeping, just a short burst to get one back on track.

Best to get back to your doctor, let her know about the side effects & ask for something else if you need it, I reckon, Ronzy! I’ve never taken those for sleeping, but I am prescribed sleeping tablets atm, as I’m down to 4 hours a night maximum. But I only take one every 4-5 nights, if I truly need one, as they can be habit forming, & I don’t want to be reliant on them. I take magnesium, too, it did help before I got as sick as I am atm, & I don’t intend taking anything to help sleep for longer than necessary!! Take care.

Hi, I have same effect from that drug. The dose you took is sufficient to knock out a horse! No wonder you feel punky!

Melatonin is a gentle sleep aid, which takes effect quickly and gently lets me go to sleep. I take 2.5 mg, (half a tab), or I have a hang over the next morning,

Try melatonin, not too expensive, no prescription required (in US), no hangover.

Kind regards, Jerri

Not available in the UK except on prescription and not recommended alongside pred as it reduces the immunosuppressive effect

Aaarg, sorry for crossing the international drug line. Also, no one has mentioned adverse interactions before. Will tell Rheumy about this.🙏🏽J

I've mentioned it a few times in the past - the reason I mentioned it here! I suppose if it doesn't seem to make a difference it's OK - but it could theoretically cause an apparent flare if it interferes with the pred. It has quite strict approval for use in the UK for some reason - no idea why!

Thank you for the heads up, I don't need any more flare triggers🌸
