How Many 1Mg Tabs Can You Take At Once?

I know this might sound a silly question but if you are currently on 15mg of Pred can you take 15 1Mg tabs instead of 3 fives. I ask this because I have just been diagnosed for 3rd time and have loads of 1mg tabs left from last time. They are in date and it seems a shame to waste them.Jenny

same dose so likely ok. You’d rattle more? When I went to A&E with GCA I had to have 12 x 5mg.

same dose should be fine but those 1mg tabs are so useful when tapering or for flares! All the best with your PMR journey

I'm on 17mg so take 3×5 mg plus 2×1mg

Just a suggestion but if you’ve got fresh prescription for 15mg might be better to take 2x5mg and then 5x1mg to help use them up but also have a stash for flares. Your stomach might get quite acidy with all those 1mgs - mine does as they are generally not coated.

No reason why not, but I couldn't swallow that many tablets. I put mine in an empty gelatin capsule because I can't stand the bitter taste. Also works out well for when my dose is made up of several tablets. I think quite a lot of people in the group might do the same.

when I was first diagnosed the highest the chemist had was 2.5mg so i had to take 6 of these for a few weeks!

Years ago I was having GCA flare up and was taking 40mg daily. I requested the 25mg tablet but pharmacy did not want to dispense because of the cost so I said I was happy to continue with 5mg however they dispensed 1mg with clear instructions to take 40 tablets daily for 4 weeks! Fortunately they dispensed extra 5mg however had good supply of 1mg tablets...
