Sometime ago I went to see an Endocrinologist regarding my D levels which at the time were extremely low (11). He prescribed 50,000 a week dose for 6 weeks and thereafter 2,000 per day.
I was fine on the 50,000 dose but since have had trouble with stomach ache when I take the 2,000 dose. I have tried various brands i.e., Holland and Barratt, Boots, Nu nutrition soft gel capsules and also a mouth spray which made me feel very unwell .
I can only come to the conclusion that it is one of the added ingredients that are causing me the problem, but find out which one is a mine field. I am wondering does anyone else have a problem with Vit D?

I wonder what the Endocrinologist prescribed? Maybe you could find out and source those, presuming that you are still deficient, your body could be trying to tell you something. Get some sunshine now that it has started to appear as well.
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the ones I tolerated came in a plain white tub. Have no idea what brand the were. Will try Stexerol as dphu had no trouble with them.
I think my husband did - but was fine with the spray.
Did they check your blood level after completing the course of high dose vit D? That would rule out the unlikely reason of the blood level being too high. You could use the same as you had for the high dose if that was OK - but just take about a third of the bottle once a week.
Have you tried the vitabiotics brand they are quite popular and available in most supermarkets. I take them at that dose and have had no trouble. Plus I know they work because mine was low last year and now its improved.
I'm hoping now that the sun has shown it's face that I won't be in such need. I seem to remember being told that they are only allowed to test Vit D every 6 months??? My next test should be with Osteoporosis so I will hopefully hear then if it's still necessary. It was the surgery pharmacist recently who would not put it on repeat ~ when my current supply runs out I will approach a GP. 🤞
Bcol says she gets hers on precscription but unfortunately different CCG's have different prescribing restrictions.
Still too early in the year for that sun to make vit D - not until May! But I obviously don't make vit D at all - if I don't take a supplement, the blood level falls slowly again. And I live in Italy, far enough south to be able, technically at least, to make vit D all year round.
