Pred & HRT

Is there anybody in our lovely community taking pred and on Hrt gel or patches and if so have they been ok on the two together.

Yes l was on HRT Gel when l first started Pred & stopped it several years ago - it made no difference either way.

Thanks for your reply, I’m just struggling with menopause issues and seriously considering Hrt but wasn’t sure if there would be an issue with Pred

You can have other issues going on - so they need to be treated as well. Mine was only stopped as a knee jerk reaction & actually the HRT wasn’t the issue but l never returned to it.

Been on HRT patches for 40 (yes, 40) years and pred for 15 months. It doesn't seem to be a problem, but then so accustomed to the HRT I don't know any different!

Hello

I'm on HRT plus testosterone and was on that about a year before PMR. Then started the usual 15mg of pred.

I say take the HRT if you feel you need to - perimenopause can add enough unpleasantness on it own without PMR in the mix. HRT also helps to keep bones stronger - worth considering.

I’ve been on hrt patches for several years and got diagnosed with GCA/PMR in January this year so only started 60mg Pred since then. No issues experienced.

I’ve been on HRT patches since June 2019 and Pred since Oct 19. No issues and GP said it was useful for bone protection too.
