In seven yrs I have never had a flair so I am asking is this one. Pain in shoulders radiating down arms. Burning actress shoulders but also have trouble lifting my left arm or putting it behind my back.. NSAIDS no use. Increased pred from 3.5 to 8.5 for last four days. but still the same. How long would an improvement take if it is a flair and if so should I go up more. Thanks in advance for any advice.

This post give details of how to deal with a flare - you have actioned part of the procedure, but you probably need longer than 4 days to get things back under control -

The other possibility is a shoulder injury if one arm is worse than the other. If you can speak to them - ask the GP what they think. But DL's probably right that you need a bit longer.
I too have had a flare I increased to 10mg, then on 7.5mg for the past six weeks. Today I'm trying 7mg and will stay with that for a month. I experienced sign of GCA at 6.5mg. Still painful to raise arms over head or to tong my hair. So makes me wonder how long we should stay on each mg as it doesn't always work whether it's long term or short that gets rid of the discomfort in arms and shoulders. Is it PMR or OA that is the question !!
