As many of us participated in the study and were engaged by the findings, I thought I would mention it. This needs to go in the Covid thread. Can some kind techie put it where appropriate please?

I hope this works. Freyja!!

have just read same thing...but it isn't closing down, sure they will get funding from elsewhere.

MrsNails will pm you on subject.

EDIT

Not sure it warrants inclusion in FAQs - but have copied relevant comments from ZOE email if you wish to make your feeling known to UKHSA

“We will update you again soon as we have a better picture of the next steps on longer-term funding for the study

We want to be bold. We believe that what we have built together can change healthcare permanently. Not just fighting COVID and the pandemics of the future, but fighting the diseases we’ve accepted as inevitable: Cancer, Heart Disease, Dementia and scores of others.

We will keep going. We have to. This isn’t just about COVID anymore.

Not happy about the Government's decision?

Well, neither are we. Our funding is decided by the UKHSA. If you’d like to share with them the value you see the ZOE Health Study providing in the coming years, then perhaps there is still a chance for the government to be part of the funding solution. Please be respectful and constructive as we are very grateful for our funding over the last 18 months.

The email for Dr Harries who runs the UKHSA is -

enquiries@ukhsa.gov.uk

Can’t seem to get email to transfer to here…maybe because HMG…you may need to type it yourself.

No me neither. I wasn’t sure where to put it though. I hope it does manage to carry on.

No worries Mrs Nails. FAQs is getting a bit unwieldy and this doesn’t really warrant a space. Thanks.

As they no longer publish daily figures in the world numbers (only country except for ukraine, who aren’t publishing, naturally). But two weeks ago they stopped doing it on Saturday & Sunday, then published 3 days worth on Monday! Two days ago the daily new cases were over 60,000 & cases are growing along the south coast & hospitals who were opening to visitors are closing due to Covid in the hospital. Zoe is a place to get good info as well as report. It seems the Govt is wanting to save money, & ‘truly believes’ Covid is over. In Scotland there are more hospital cases than last February. But it’s all over& this country has moved on, is cutting it all to save money, I assume? Still around 150-200 people in UK dying each day. Zoe said they’d had a good response, they want people to email the UKHSA as above. For vulnerable people it may soon be the only place to get reliable info to judge what is happening in your area, & how safe you are! Just my thoughts…

Numbers here have gone up considerably - and here they publish it all. Of course they have gone up - it was Fasching/Carnival last week, not quite normal numbers for that week when the whole of Europe has school holidays but that just meant it was possible to ski not just stand in queues ... Hospital figures are very low though so no panic. The new variant of Omicron is even more infectious and already represents about a quarter of cases.

I saw that, but your country seems to yo-yo a bit! Germany reported over 300,000 yesterday.

It yoyos in Italy because there is less reporting at the weekend, Was just listening to the German news and the health spokesman was emphasising that while the mood amongst the people is that it's all over - the official view is we are on the way but the whistle hasn't gone yet! There will be a wave in the late summer/autumn.And we ALWAYS have gone up after a holiday ...

Can’t understand why they are still talking about March 20th being “freedom day” - are they cracked or what? VERY HIGH infection numbers!!!

I fear they won’t! The government in Germany have lost the plot. They are supposed to be intelligent human beings.😏
