Does anyone have their symptoms increase in intensity if they eat the not so right thing? If I eat a small piece of bread or pasta, or something that has a small bit of sugar in it, the tingling and tightness in my head along with slight headache start up or increase. It happens almost 15 to 20 mins after eating. Can intake of food be so immediate to reflect this reaction? Unsure of what Im experiencing.

Symptoms feel more intense after eating?
Hi. If you are eating white bread and pasta you may be experiencing a spike in blood sugar. Changing to wholemeal products may relieve your symptoms as will being strict about eliminating sugary foods and added sugar from your diet. If symptoms persist a conversation with your doctor would be the way to go.I'm no expert and others with far more knowledge will be along soon.
It could be if it is related to the release of simple carbs and sugar from the food in question leading to a spike in blood sugar. Try to avoid processed carbs and added sugar of all sorts and find no or low carb snacks if you really can't dispense with nibbles altogether. And adopting a low carb diet - sorry, no bread of pasta really - will also add to maintaining a steadier blood sugar level.
I assume your Hba1c is monitored because you are on pred? (I'm always optimistic GPs do things properly!). If your BS level is running on the high side because of pred-induced hyperglycaemia, the it won't take a lot to make it do even higher,
Lots of people find that a "treat" session results in increased symptoms relating to the carbs/sugar in the so-called treat which make it rather less of a pleasurable experience.
My symptoms used to get much worse after eating sweets. I can't remember how fast it was, but definitely within a couple of hours if not sooner. I quickly learned to avoid huge doses of sugar or my GCA temple pain would flare up.
Hi bethm1129 - actually I also noticed that after eating the not so right thing my pain and stiffness would be increased the next morning, but not the same day. Bread was one for me as well, along with processed meat. I also get migraines with vertigo, which probably has a connection there.
Thanks All. I know better. I took the easy path of heating up what was dinner the night before for my family and not making my 'proper' food. Wont be doing that any more.
