I am holding steady without symptoms at 7 mg. Has anyone stayed at that level for a length of time?. I have other physical stresses just now, so I don’t want to reduce at the moment. Thanks. j

Staying at 7 mg
Sorry I cannot answer but I’m in a similar position. I got to 8/7 last year but pain started building and I ended up back on 10mg. I’ve nearly reached the end of a slow taper back to 8mg (via 9mg) but the last two nights and days have started getting pain again. I’m thinking of pausing to see if it settles then I’m planning on 0.5mg reductions from here on.
Thanks. I had a painful accident a month ago with slow healing, so hesitant to rock the boat. Good luck with your reducing. Jane
If you have other issues going on then it would be very sensible to stay at your current dose. Hope your other stresses soon reduce.
Yes, I stayed there for a year and was fine. Something then shifted and I managed to reduce by half a mg at a time over a period of many weeks. It has to be said that once I reached 3 mgs I was further diagnosed with GCA/ Large Vessel Vasculitis so this may have been a factor.
I have been on 6 mg for 2 years plus - pain and stiffness return when try DSOS to reduce - once a year need extra 5 mg for short period
I had to up from 6 to 7 mgs after knee replacement and remained there for over a year.
Thanks, reassuring. Jane
I’ve bounced between 8-7 for the past year. Currently 7.5. I’m reluctant to go below just in case! As others on this forum tell you, listen to your body. I too have another stressful situation that’s not been resolved. My balance is very poor on one side. I’ve seen eye specialists, opticians, GPs, ENT, Audiology with no improvement. Next port of call will be neurology. My wife won’t let me out unaccompanied in case I have a slip/trip. It’s like being a kid again
I’ve now “invested” in a collapsible walking stick. Looks good and does help me along, but not used all the time. On the London Underground I’m treated with pity and a seat is offered if in a packed carriage. I gratefully accept, though give that up if sometime has a “baby on board” stickers. Ever the gent even in 76th year.
Identify! Am 81 and got light walker to walk in parks and find it opens up communication. I chat with anyone without feeling I am picking them up and other disabled without feeling I could appear condescending, Jane
I had to take a deep breath taking my walker out in public, but now don’t mind. I hated the wheelchair I had before back surgery, but found, as with 5he walker, if I behave cheerfully and engage people, they don’t treat me as if disabled. Get a light walker, the new ones are heavy and fold better, Mine is light and I almost dance with it. The seat comes up so I can walk within it, not bent forward. Good luck, Jane
I will be 81 in May and also got a collapsible walking stick!
