Strangest thing ever. Two weeks I had a bout of shingles. I’ve been prone to this since I was 24. Just a small patch, about the size of a £1 coin, on the back of my leg. Last week I got a big patch. About 3 inches long and, boy, did I feel bad. A sweating mass of human flesh for two days. And then and then...my concrete jumpsuit left me. It must have dissolved in the heat. No more chronic fatigue. Gone! It’s as though my body has just reset itself. I feel tired at times, probably because I’m doing more, but that heaviness has gone! My muscles are weak, and that’s now far more obvious, but I’m generally on the go from the minute I get up. I still like to slow things down in the afternoon with a bit of sketching or reading. Last week went to the theatre to see Jasper Carrot (remember him? A comic without tourrets!) and then, after a lengthy journey home because of road closures due to storms, we sat and watched Bill Bailey on tv and didn’t get to bed until nearly 1.00am. Up at 8.00am the next day and I was ready to go.
Not so long ago I spoke to a chap, on one of the forums, and he told me that after an operation all his symptoms went.
I can see why it would happen, the autoimmune system had to get into gear and ‘forgot’ it was fighting itself. Now please, I don’t expect everyone to go out and get an infection, but I am wondering if that’s happened to anyone else?
Oh, I so hope this continues – we never know, do we – but it’s a great feeling.
