Are you taking anything to help Ronzy? I get this trouble and find that over the counter indigestion remedies are as good as anything. My doctor did prescribe something called Omeprazole but it didn’t agree with me. You might find what the doctor prescribes to be stronger and helpful, though.

In the U.K. it would be Gaviscon or Rennies. I bet they are much the same. Mint or Chamomile Tea is soothing too.

Are you taking your pred with food?My gp said that taking a pro-biotic might help. Also eating bitter food such as rocket. It’s good to sleep in your left side

According to a book I bought “Acid reflux Diet for Dummies” it helps with gastric emptying. I’m not sure how but the stomach is located to the left of the esophagus

yes ronzy i had the sp had stopped. elling head problem. but it does come back a little once you stop taking pred. bur regarding upset tummy, that did not start untill 18 month after pred stopped. and was put on omozrapol. which i still take. and i have to watch what i eat. so i dont eat acidic food and have gone onto herbal teas. and very little coffee.. i also found eating warm pastry did not help yes sleep on your left side.and take pro biotics it all helps

Ginger is good for the digestion. I grate a tsp of fresh ginger into boiling hot water and steep for at least 15 minutes before drinking. Mint may be helpful too.

Line the stomach. Half a bowl of porridge or muesli. Then take each pill with a spoonfull of natural yogurt. Take the rest of the cereal. Advice previously given on this forum and worked for me! Also I avoid too much liquid till the pred is digested.

Some of the tips from patients gathered over 15 years. One day I will post them all.

a) Acid Reflux: Unwaxed Lemon, 1 minute in microwave (gives three times more juice), squeeze

lemon, divide juice into three, take with water three times per day.

b) Live yoghurt and probiotic supplements help with stomach problems, help prevent 'thrush' &

also helps you to absorb vitamins & minerals.

c) One teaspoonful of Manuka honey per day, boosts immune system and is a natural anti-biotic, Jar must be labelled UMF +5 +10 +15 +20 strength. It is expensive, but Holland & Barrett often have offers on. Best taken with a pro-biotic yoghurt.

Manuka Honey Cream, is also great for all cuts, ulcers etc.

d) Skin Thinning - ask your GP for Double Base Gel and follow the instructions. GP can

prescribe it because your skin is thinning due to Pred. If he refuses you can buy it OTC. You can also get Sun Protection Factor 60 from you GP.

All the usual things that can cause heartburn do so with pred: most drinks, particularly coffee, acidic and spicy foods. Hot drinks can also make the bubbling worse! Also, surprisingly peppermint - that is good for other digestive problems but bad for reflux because it relaxes the sphincter at the top of the stomach. If your spelling is all that has gone up the spout, then you are doing well. I have done some really daft things, such as putting my clocks forward instead of back, and trying to phone people up using the numbers on my computer keyboard!

I can tell I'm having a flare when my spelling is dodgy - more I develop a sort of dyslexia!!!! The fingers that normally spell everything right go haywire ;)

I have had acid reflux for years being prescribed daily Omeprazole.

My PMR diagnosis gave me Lansoprazole instead. However, I have recently begun drinking just a small quantity of Kefir daily, just 50 mls or so. I found found my acid reflux much reduced - and I was more surprised than anyone as I thought that Kefir may be a fad.

It may be worth your while trying a bottle, it's not too expensive.

Hope you feel better soon.
