Cataract operation
Do you mean 10th Nov?
Google it Heather. I dread having to have same surgery. I think my cataracts are still small. I only have the sight in my right eye.
Many thanks for your reply. Google isn't much help for partially sighted.
I suspect some people take more than 3 days to recover so maybe you need to be patient.
Have you thought of getting software for the partially sighted? That reads for you, types for you - and allows you to adjust the page to make it easier to read? Even if you don't need it now, it may be useful later on - be prepared.
Have a look at this -

Me - was in same situation as you - only one usable eye - recovered quickly despite still being on low level of Pred.
If you are still concerned there should be a contact number on your discharge letter you can ring.
Man y thanks for your reply. I think possibly a problem could be that i am on 20 mg Pred because I recently had a Maj or flare.
Yes it's now a 5 Star hotel. I often wonder Which bedroom Was my office😀.. my house was knocked down for the car park. On a more serious note prior to flare I was on 10 but had a skin infection put on antibiotics for 14 days Pred doubled for 14 days on instructions of endo nurse. She phoned yesterday saying to stay at 20 for a week and Then start reducing. I'm not a happy buddy😘
I wouldn't be either - no reason why you can't reduce quickly after only 2 weeks,
She didn't want to reduce any faster incase I had an adrenal crises, what reduction would you recommend. I am prepared to take the risk.
Many Thanks
She really needs to read up on increasing pred and adrenal crises. Up to 10-14 days there is unlikely to have been any significant adverse effect on adrenal function as it was at 10mg - which is high enough to have suppressed adrenal function anyway. You could try going straight back to 10mg or you could go in two steps of 5mg at a time if you feel happier with it. It doesn't have to be a slow taper as it would be just like taking 10mg pred and stopping - just yourbaseline is higher. Just in case, keep a close eye on how you feel and if you feel unwell be ready to take some extra pred but the likelihood of a crisis is minimal providing you don't go out doing exciting things like sky-diving and keep a low profile for a few days.
