Update on my Covid infection... I had two Pfizer injections, then the Booster as it came available, and my annual flu jab. No fever with Covid infection, but did have shortness of breath. Ultimately, a trip to the hospital and a bunch of tests revealed I had break-through Covid. Treatment at home included starting on major anti-coagulate medicine to treat blood clots in lungs, and anticlonal antibody infusion to neuter the Covid virus, (hopefully stop its spread). All has gone as expected...then PMR PAIN BEGAN TO RETURN. Start mildly, then within 10 days, I finally admit I have a full blown flare on board. My pre-Covid dose of Prednisone was 3.5, with pending taper to 3 mg. Today I took 10 mg. Figuring that increase could be enough to stop the progression of my flare, fingers crossed. So it looks like break-through Covid (for me) appears to include blood clots in lungs,fatigue, and a post-covid PMR flare! Anyone else experiencing Post-immunization Covid break-through illness? I can’t say I’ve had a similar experience (yet). The nearest I came was two weeks of feeling dreadful after my flu jab, so bad I got a PCR test, but it came back negative - phew.
Anyway just a quick note to say I hope you’re better soon.
Hello Jerri - Many thanks for your detailed description of your rather horrid experiences with 'breakthrough Covid'. It all sounds pretty ghastly but you seem to have negotiated your way through all this very bravely although ending up with a 'flare' must seem like the last straw. All of us here will surely appreciate the information about treatments / reactions etc - as there doesn't seem to be many examples of what can happen to people 'like us'. I just hope you continue to improve as fast as possible and recover from what has obviously been a really challenging time for you. All good wishes to you from OZ. Rimmy X
Hi to all of you ,When the doc said "you have Covid", I was stunned! My wife and I have worn masks, socially distanced, washed hands, gotten immunizations, and avoided crowded places. Our only outings are to the grocery, once a week. The doc said" you have done everything right. There was nothing else we could have told you to do. The virus is in the community, it's everywhere. If you go to grocery store, there it is." Shocking to hear him say that...and realized all our friends are very likely to get it also. Fortunately, being immunized most likely kept me from being admitted to hospital, and from becoming more ill. I truly had no fever or other severe symptoms, other than shortness of breath, which I attributed to my asthma.
So there you have it...I was one of the early "break through" cases, but I suspect only the tip of the Iceberg. Regards, J

So sorry but glad you are coping. I have had the Moderna shots three times and also only go to the store I was on 3 /2 mgs going on 3 when bad hip and PAD came along so that I had to up a few mgs to rid the flare. I seem to be stuck at 4 mgs now. I wish you well.
No clots, just legs almost closed by cholesterol, also one carotid artery. It started in the last year or two, when my legs felt like the veins were full of cement. Just diagnosed this summer when the pain extended to one foot with lesions that would not heal. It hurt too much to walk the dog. I suspected it early but the MD poo pooed it. Dosage is Cilostazol to widen, dialate veins, and to discourage clots, a statin, Rosuvastatin Calcium. Ultrasound followup in 6 months. I am pleased with the three month progress so far and that I did not have to have stents or other surgery but it looks like I will be on these drugs forever. More drugs and health issues to worry over. One day at a time.

In the early days of COVID in the UK, I remember hearing talk of one of the symptoms suffered by patients being a mighty inflammation throughout the body. I was later comforted to learn that they were using prednisolone as one of the medications to treat COVID patients.
I had to put up my pred dose from 9mg to 12mg for about 10 days when I tested positive for Covid. Then I tapered back down to 9mg the following week. All ok. No blood clots, or other adverse symptoms post Covid.
Mine was not a break through case….rather got symptoms the same night as my first Covid vaccine. Got second dose two months later with no complications.

I did not have the vaccine but got Covid in September. I received the monoclonal infusion and Heparin in case I would get blood clots. I was sick about 2 weeks and continued to cough another 5 weeks. I was on 3mg prednisone and flared because the covid increased inflammation. Ive been taking 6mg and finally got inflammation under control and am beginning to taper to 5,5mg.
