Pmr 20 years GCA ten, I have high blood pressure when I first wake up in the morning. 150 to 160 over 90 to 100. Blood pressure starts to go down immediately when I am upright. Down to normal after two hours. Does anyone else have nocturnal hypertension?

Nocturnal Hypertension

Hi What do the Doctors say about this? MrsN

Blood pressure is usually highest in the morning, but as MrsNails says it does need checking out.
I’d say speak to a doc, especially if you get low bp when you stand. Our cortisol levels are highest in the morning so you do get a little rise but perhaps you need a 24 hour b/p monitor to see what’s happening, how much and when . There are conditions that can cause supine hypertension so if it’s a daily feature it’s worth having a chat.
Mine's just the opposite. But I know exactly why - trying to work at the same time as I fight PMR/GCA
I have been seeing a counselor for 8 years. I am estranged from adult abusive daughter (alcoholic/borderline personality disorder) and endured a lot of childhood abuse and trauma. My counselor believes I am experiencing repressed trauma during sleep,. I just purchased a pulse ox and checked my o2 while sleeping It is normal at 99/98. I am on 5mg. of Buspar at bed time. I am down to 5mg. prednisone. I am on Actemra. I can feel my Bp going up when I lie on my left side. So who knows. Last night I took .25 of Zanax. This am BP was 136/96 on awakening. It is usually 150 over 90s. I just hope we can figure it out. My EKGs usually come back normal.
