My wife 71 on actemra and prednisone from last 3 months for GCA . On watching tv or reading , she get pressure on eye and ear . Eye are checked by two eye dr it seems normal . Is this can be due to GCA ? Is this normally experienced by GCA patients ? What other main irritable symptoms continue and experience ,even during treatment of GCA ?

Hello, Pred does affect focusing and it changes with dose. I experienced difficulty with changing to different depths of field. This meant easy eye strain but there was no point in changing the prescription of my glasses because it kept changing with dose. Pred also can increase the eye pressure so I had my pressures checked every 3 months until it stabilised under 10mg. What irritable symptoms does she have and what dose of Pred is she on?

I have LVV and eye pressure is one thing that has not gone away completely although it can vary from day to day. My vision has been affected in that I can no longer read close up things without reading glasses, which i have never had to do, and my dry eyes are far worse. The pressure headaches are one of my original symptoms, so I am very tuned into them. I am on pred, reducing very very slowly from 9.5-9 and weekly TCZ.

Sorry to read your suffering ,my wife had catract operation from there after she started symtom of gca , it may be coincidence, she is totally depress and blame catract surgery which went ok that time But now she has a vision problem .I can understand, how hard is to pull on with GCA suffering , where no clear picture , when we will totally cure .

I pray for your health. By God blessing everything will be ok .

Has she seem a good opthalmologist. I see one regularly to check my sight. It might be a start. And talk to your doctor/consultant.

She also might be feeling a bit depressed about everything, which is totally understandable. How lovely she has you to care about her.

Yes, my vision varies. No blurring, but have become photosensitive, which is uncomfortable watching the TV. There are so many symptoms of GCA and side effects of medication that I think you would have to tell us which ones you have in mind
