Not sure if been discussed on here, so obviously not that common. However it can be a sign of overactive thyroid gland, or other medical issues so worth getting checked out.

I ve checked my thyroid function is normal , i don’t know if any one have experienced puffiness of eyelid due to pred

Yes that is more common….but think you do need to follow up, and get eyes checked…..could be an infection.

Puffy eyes can be due to pred leading to fluid retention - one of the reasons for cutting processed carbs drastically is that both carbs and the salt in processed foods contribute to fluid retention.

But it is something to get checked - all sorts of other things can cause puffy eyes, including dry eyes which isn't uncommon in autoimmune disorders.

I cut my carbs and salt but still have puffy eyes and there is no infection in my eyes, thyroid function is good , is pred cause this ?!

Think that is what I suggest is possible - cutting carbs and salt doesn't stop all the fluid retention but it does help.

I've had a very long awaited visit from my 'Californian' son the past two weeks and found my self throwing caution to the wind, eating more salt and sugar and carbs. By the time he left my eyelids and undereyes had puffed up. Eyelids yellowish along the puffy edge. I'm not feeling myself, itching and bodily restless too - so as today I go back to my much more restriced diet. Hopefully that will calm things down. My eyes look to me (in the mirror) like they are bulging but I've been told they are not actually 'bulging'; however I have worsening astigmatism, changing the shape of the eye balls, associated with preds.

I guess same what happened to me , at first i eat lot to carbs and salt , did you stop pred??! Does it go after stopping pred ?!

I haven't stopped the preds......and I reckon I'll not taper to lower than 7 for some months now.

Did your eyes puffiness go away or still u ve ?!

Mine feel as though they swell up and down, sometimes making me slightly longer-sighted, but no-one else comments. Maybe because eyelids are worse. So in my case I don't think it matters, just side effect of pred, but I would hate to give you a false sense of security if your intraocular pressure is really increasing because that should be checked out.

It is not increasing I checked with ophthalmologist, he said my eyes are fine , so he said maybe it is side effect of pred , but I want to make sure if it will go , is it really a side effect of pred
