Fed up with Pred tapering not working

Really fed up and frustrated with pred now 😔

Got as low as 8.5mg in half stages and was pleased but then had a flare. Went back to 12mg for 10 days and then down to 10mg but stiffness and pains at hips - can hardly walk after sitting for 20 mins or so !

Do I go to 13.5mg for 2 weeks (5mg above the 8.5mg) then straight to 10mg then slowly reduce to 9mg, or slowly reduce to 10mg from 13.5mg and so on ?

Really feeling down about the yo yo fiasco 😔😪

This post gives advice re flares - but I would go to 13,5mg (7-10 days, then probably better to step down in 2 stages - 11mg for a week, then 9mg for 4 weeks before you start tapering again….

Not wishing to nag….but I would question if you are trying to do too much - you have a systemic illness, and need to be sensible with it, just because you are on treatment doesn’t mean the underlying illness is cured, it’s not! So you need to act accordingly, the fact you are yo-yoing suggests you may need to think seriously about pacing yourself better. This excellent post from PMRpro might help -
