Update. Nurse cleaned and dressed my skinned shin sore. She used a silver dressing which promotes healing and deals with infection. I have to return on Thursday, Monday and next Thursday to make sure all is well. Also given a protective plastic sleeve for my leg to use in the shower. 😘

What a productive visit! That's what I call care.Plastic sleeve is quite a few steps up from my carrier bag suggestion πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

Yes ! The plastic bag might have been a bit tricky 😘

More fun though, about 7 or 8 years ago when they had finished putting screws and stuff in my left foot, my OH and I used a bin liner or two duc taped at the top around my thigh to cover and protect the plaster whilst she helped me have a shower.

A plastic bag is faster to put on and take off though! Also much easier when you have a bandage like a did.

More than I got, nothing for the shower, so I used a bin bag. I did have silver but that was limited to two weeks supply, I also had manuka honey.

Oh dear ! what did you do ?

Steroids cause me to have problems if I have pressure on my legs. During my hip op they clamped my leg and a blister was formed which then became a rather nasty lesion. It happened before when I had my first hip done too and the NHS said it was nothing to do with them that time! The leg after the first hip op looks like a shark had a go at me. I have had smaller lesions from pressure from a Doppler test and also from a bruise on my leg after which I was sunbathing.

glad it's sorted. I used to have such tough skin and didn't bruise at all much. Now with blood thinners and pred. my skin is so delicate I bruise at the slightest knock and cut so easily it's depressing. Fed up with showering and seeing more damage each visit. Heyho.

After an operation on my feet, I was given two plastic foot covers and they worked exceedingly well too. A tad tricky to get on and off though.

Recommend Tegarderm+pad. These coverings are put on giving airtight protection, no problems when removed. In my experience can stay in place for several days.

With so much thinned skin, I buy in bulk online. Always carry one with my bluebird
