Since my 2nd Pfizer shot on August 4th my GCA has flared up, the first time in 4 years and my PMR flared up pretty bad but has calmed down now. Then this past Monday I have come down with some sort of "bug" which actually landed me in the hospital for a day; the doctors think it could be pancreatitis but are not sure. I've never experienced a 'bug" like this one and am still not feeling 100%. i am wishing now that I didn't get vaccinated as I don't believe in coincidence. When I had the 2nd shot the nurse told me that because of my compromised immune system I may only be 50% or less protected. Part of me says 50% is better than 0% but at the same time what is with all these ailments that have followed. Does anyone have any ideas regarding this and how can I get rid of the chronic nauseau? It's driving me nuts. Thanks for your help everyone.

Vaccines and relapses
It may be coincidence - and having PMR doesn't mean we don't get other things. Pancreatitis isn't a "bug" - one cause is having gallstones. And some people find they develop gallstones because of the calcium supplements.
Hi PMRpro, yes I do know that pancreatitis isn't a bug, i thought it was just a bug before they told me that; sorry, I didn't explain myself very well. The thing is is that I don't believe in coincidence - the timing of it just makes me wonder that's all. I do remember you said that you were sick for 9 days after the vaccine, are you okay now? Any suggestions on how I can get rid of nauseau/ I've tried just about everything I can think of. Thanks for your help.
I just had a flare of PMR symptoms, especially fatigue. But no, I wasn't sick in any sense of the word. If the nausea is too bad for the usual remedies, speak to the GP who may be able to give you something to calm it dowm Have you tried travel sickness pills?
I am sure my recent flare after 3 years without.. was triggered by Pfizer vaccine. Homeopaths support that idea not surprisingly.. but I’ve heard several Gps also saying so.
It isn't at all surprising in anyone with an autoimmune disorder - but as I keep saying, it happens to be under scrutiny, people have flares all the time because of various things upsetting the immune system again. Covid, one feels, might cause the ultimate response ...
hi Bedwell - I still believe my last two hospitalisations were the effect of last two Pfizer vaccines - as I was knocked for six approx two days after each occasion.
Couldn't contact GP (what's new) so reported to nurse who literally laughed at me over the phone.
I read we may be offered another round of jabs - but am now hesitant to accept.
My husband had PMR eight years ago. Has been off Pred and v. well for the last four + years. After both vaccines he is very sore again - having chat with GP this week.
Hey there. There is the off chance that the nausea could be related to the GCA. The vasculitis could affect the celiac artery. WRT the relapse, I believe that my relapse was vaccine related. This makes me reconsider the booster.
Second shot of Pfizer vaccine triggered PMR flare. I upped my pred dose, and babied myself for the next few days. After two weeks, flare had subsided, and I felt safer for having the full vaccine doses. As the booster time comes closer, I read the reaction may be similar to second injection.Matters not!! I will be first in line on my booster day. Too many folks die from Covid...I don't plan to be one of them.
Kind Regards and carry on...

join the club - but GPs and Nurses just don't believe it - despite being hospitalised within a couple of days after each jab...😪
