Dreading weekly appointment tomorrow

Hi all, got my weekly appointment tomorrow with a different gp as my usual one is on holiday for 2 wks, I dread it when I get a different gp cause I seem to spend most of the phone call talking about the last few months and then forget things but this time I wrote it down as I knew in advance, if it wasn't for the different symptoms I'm getting in the last 2 wks that hasn't gone away thought it's best I dont cancel it. They probably all down to tapering or pmr but if I don't ask I'll drive myself crazy with worry

Hi there. I definitely think if something is troubling you it's probably best to talk it through with this different GP. Chances are he may not be that helpful but there's also the chance that he might actually have some useful knowledge of PMR/GCA and be able to reassure you! Nothing ventured, nothing gained! Hope it works out well and you get the answers you need.

Good plan to have notes and say what you need to say. Sometimes a new pair of eyes on it all really helps. Good luck!

Morning KW, hope today's chat goes well and that you have a doc that a) listens and b) is knowledgeable about our illness and not just relying on a crib sheet. They do exist and hopefully this will be one of them.

Sometimes a different ear is good because a fresh perspective can be useful. Also, having a history like War & Peace myself, I’ve found that sometimes all the reams of detail I feel is necessary sometimes isn’t and can fuddle the brain of the listener asI try to coral them into where we want them to be. Hopefully their questions might lead them to a useful conclusion but you do have to be prepared to question too.

Good luck...I’m surprised & interested to hear that you still have a weekly appointment after 8 months. Perhaps this is normal & I've been unusual...I had a weekly discussion for 3 weeks but then changed to monthly, unless I had new issues. You’re getting very good service from your GP surgery, ask your questions, who knows, this doctor could be even better, & with a weekly appointment it’s bound to happen..your regular gp probably needs a holiday quite badly this year!!

Yes I've had some sort of weekly appointment since started pred, even if it just the receptionist/nurse asking on behalf of dr.

My word, you certainly are getting the gold service, I don’t think others are getting this, but perhaps it’s just me! I was quite happy with a monthly call, though, I wouldn’t have had much to say weekly & this forum gives me great answers if I need them. But it’s great you have a weekly call where you can ask all your questions & get support, if you feel you need it! Hope you continue to get the support from them!
