How long to stay at higher dose after a flare

Hello all,

I would appreciate a refresh about this. I was on 11 mg tapering to 10 when I flared with the classic shoulder pain. Also very painful back pain, something new, and some headache.

Lots of family stress plus wildfire stress, (Northern California)

I’ve been taking 15 mg. for 4 days, pain almost completely gone, a few twinges this morning.

Is 4 days enough to go back to 11 mg. ?

If you feel like you did when you were first diagnosed after taking the steroids you can go back to 11mg. Don’t tempt the PMR if you do not feel that you have knocked it on the head.

This post gives general advice of dealing with a flare…just adapt figures to your own circumstances- healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

However would say that if you still have a few twinges then don’t reduce until they have gone.

I'd not rush - another couple of days will be safer I suspect. Longer if the niggles are still there.
