Hi, everyone, it’s me again! Another problem; I started to get a bloodshot eye about 3 weeks ago which hasn’t gone away. I contacted the drs surgery and they sent me to the pharmacy who sent me to the optician as an emergency. She did loads of tests and took photos, and informed me that I had a lesion at the back of my eye near the retina ,and thought it might be Scleritis or Episcleritis and has referred me on to the Opthamology department for an urgent appointment. That was one week ago and I’ve heard nothing so far, and now, my other eye has started to go red, and the eye socket of the first red eye now aches when I move my eye. Could this be GCA please? The optician did know that I have PMR.

Should I be worried?
This needs to be chased up as a matter of urgency. Personally I would go to A&E or an emergency Eye Department. It could be linked to a form of Vasculitis but it doesn’t sound like GCA that we are familiar with. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.
Ditto to jinasc 's reply!

It ISN'T associated with GCA per se - they affect the surface of the eye and GCA is an arterial problem in the brain. However, both but especially scleritis are more common in people who already have an inflammatory condition,
To be honest - I'm not sure why the optician didn't send you straight to the hospital with a referral letter which they could have done, particularly if they really weren't sure which it was.
A&E now unless you happen to have an eye A&E within easy reach.
I am late in catching up on reading posts, but am hoping, like others, that you went straight to A&E? I do hope you are OK.
