No more Pred!

Thank you to everyone on this site for all your help and guidance regarding PMR. Following GP advice my first tapering was a disaster!! But following ‘Dorset ladies’ guidance has meant I’ve been 1 week free of prednisolone. This 2 year journey has had many ups and downs (the first 6 months was misdiagnosed! .. due to my age 55yrs.. GP has since been very supportive)… fingers crossed the PMR is in remission! Massive thanks to you all 👏👏👏

That's great news and long may it last - but do be watchful. It isn't uncommon for 1mg, even 1/2mg to be enough to do the dusting off of the inflammation each day but at zero it slowly builds up until it is enough to cause symptoms again. If you start to get any symptoms a few weeks later - don't ignore them! Caught quickly you may well get away with only going back to 1mg. It isn't unusual to get aches as your adrenal function returns to normal too but they are usually already there now - PMR coming out to play may take a few weeks.

All the best

It is a great feeling. I am 7 months off the pred but still consider myself in the recovery stage but energy levels definitely improving - no more afternoon naps! Best wishes

Good, but as PMRpro said just be mindful but not paranoid about things…and keep in touch. Newbies like to know success stories.
