I have made a few postings recently about my probable returning PMR. I took my first 10mg dose of pred this morning following the recurrence of symptoms and although not quite a spectacular as my very first dose about 3 years ago I am about 80% better. It took about an hour to have some effect - it started with a tingling in my legs as they loosened up. By lunchtime 3 hours in or so, I was moving much more freely and virtually pain free especially my legs and quite a bit in my shoulders. I feel it's a little bittersweet as I was hoping it was not my PMR back but the pred working pretty much confirms it has unfortunately revisited me. Better the devil you know maybe.
First dose of pred today : I have made a few... - PMRGCAuk
First dose of pred today
Think you have your answer, and yes in the great scheme of things , there are a lot worse illnesses than PMR.
Hope the pain relief continues..
Blessed relief - quite impressive even if it wasn't as good as the first time.
You are ahead of the game this time - you know the pitfalls and you will probably get lower fairly easily. And you know where we are.
As already said, sad it's back but at least you have your previous experience to guide you. I wouldn't be tempted to start tapering too soon, give the 10mg a good few weeks to get everything back under control.
An unwanted visitor for sure but as others have said one to deal with knowledge gained previously. Wishing you all the best.
We used to sing this 👇 in school assemblies. Substitute “PMRGCAUK” for “you”. I hope it cheers you up 🙂:
