HI, good news. New SED test is now 29 and no symptoms of PMR. Injections for bi-lateral hip bursitis scheduled for July 7. Hurrah, after 2.5 months of waiting. Hope this is the end of hip pain for awhile. Also having acupuncture which seems to help.

Can I ask what the symptoms were for bursitis? I have a very sore hip when I lie on that side. Thought it was more arthritis (have arthritic knees) but not sure now. I will do something about it but doctor well stretched without me whinging. Incidentally now PMR and Pred free for over three years. It does happen!

That is a typical symptom of trochanteric bursitis. I saw a superb link for it the other week - can't find it!

Lynn, I have had many incidences of bursitis both before and during PMR. Some of it’s related to the fact that I’m fused to the sacrum and my gait is strange. A solution for good sleeping for me has been two travel size pillows and I let my hip be supported in the “valley “ formed by the 2 pillows- when I lay on that side. That’s the only way I can sleep comfortably.

Hi, I am 1.5 years off Prednisone (6 years but 2 undiagnosed). In April I started to have pain when walking and then couldn't sleep at night on either side. Very, very painful. I could actually pin point the location where leg attaches to hip and several surrounding spots. No doubt by any doctor that it was hip bursitis and it actually affected other hip bursas which I have had before and ended up in an ambulance to emergency and another time when I was actually an invalid for 5 days. Both times were before I was diagnosed with PMR and both times I improved immediately with cortisone shots. This time because the one cortisone on one side did not work I had bi-lateral hip injections guided by x-ray. I am happy to say that this morning I am pain free. I still feel a little stiff but no problem walking.
