Very likely unfortunately, but may also be due to the fact that you’ve just realised you have a serious illness which may be hanging around for longer than you would like.

There are lots of related posts, so have a read of them….they may give some good advice, but if it become too severe then please seek medical advice.

We don’t have a specific post on depression in FAQs, but it might be worth reading some, especially those relating to chronic pain or living with a chronic illness, I’m sure it’s probably covered in there somewhere……

I agree with Dorset lady

The disease itself can be difficult, pred can affect moods and there is the grieving process for the precious life before a long term condition. You are not alone in this, it will pass.

Do search the forum as suggested, there are loads of posts on this.

I don’t know what dose you are on but high doses made me feel down with anxiety type feelings thrown in which eased with dose reduction. However, on low doses when my adrenal function was low, it came back but with a hard to get going aspect to it. Nearly all of us were active people before and then we are presented with a how-long-is-a-piece-of-string-disease. It can set off a grieving process for the loss of various things too, or at the very least, not knowing what will return and what won’t. The other issue can be reactions of others to something they can’t see or understand and this can also trigger a common feeling of letting others down. If you have pain as the cherry on top and of you don’t have a useful or supportive doctor well….I had to keep telling myself it was the Pred talking and the rest, I took every day at a time and tried to be easy on myself. You will have your circumstances that are different to mine and others but searching on the forum might help to find common experiences. Or you could give a bit more detail to help others reply a bit more specifically for you.

I fell into a weeping gloom before I was taking any medication. I thought that I read that it was a symptom of the basic condition?
