Only thumbs? Not the index and middle fingers too?

No, but I do have trigger thumb, which appeared a few months ago. I am sure it is nothing to do with the PMR or steroids though.

Yes, I had numbness in my right hand and in particular my thumb. Was diagnosed with carpel tunnel and stupidly had steroid injection in my wrist to alleviate the pain. Was advised by rheumatology that this was most likely side affects of steroid rather than carpel tunnel itself.

They like to try the injections sometimes - depends how advanced if is. I was never offered the injections prior to surgery, x 8 on the wrists and hands, but did have one following surgery as. couldn’t open the finger ( trigger finger).

I have had the tip of my pointing finger and perhaps the thumb numb a few times. Don't know why either.

All down the outside side of my thumb up to my wrist is numb/tingly, if i reach for something, i get a horrible shooting pain up my arm. I got tests for carpel tunnel and its not that, so seem to be stuck with it.
