I had about 6 sessions - certainly helped me sleep better and become more hopeful, maybe not so much with the aches and pains

I had acupuncture to try to help with fatigue. It helped me a lot.

are links to past threads where acupuncture is mentioned or discussed, Unfortunately one link given in the first seems to have been deleted. But whenever complementary therapies are discussed it is clear that while acupunture may help other problems experienced alongside PMR it rarely does much for the PMR itself. And that is the bottom line - there are few easily accessible and generally affordable options for PMR that do more than make coping with it a bit easier. There is nothing - including medication - that will cure except time.

I had two sessions. In my case they were a total waste of time.

Thank you for your reply. From what I've read the best acupuncture can do is relax you and help with sleeping, not with pain...

In the end I cracked, and upped my dose of cortisone to 5mg, after trying to manage on 1mg, and of course now feel great and don't need acupuncture etc.

I think that is much more sensible and cheaper!

I tried 6 sessions for chemo-induced neuropathy and it did nothing for me. Nor has anything else I have tried worked for the neuropathy.

Having said that, years earlier I tried acupuncture a few times for a sore neck that I had for 1.5 years and it did make it go away completely. The sore neck is back a but now but it's been over 10 years since I had it "fixed".

I suspect it is mind-over-matter so works on believers but not on sceptics.
