This may be of interest since it relates to folks with autoimmune diseases.

Interesting mix of drugs though.

Thanks rocketman42, an interesting study and one candidate declined the second dose.

After 6 weeks of temporal and eye pain, with an increase of Pred to 30mgs, then 10mgs I developed Shingles and so did my online friend. Doc gave me 6 days of Aciclovir 800/5 a day. The funny thing is that my headaches and eye pain went to a much lower level and I’ve had no nerve pain with the rash. I’m very wary of taking the second jab.

hi there, my friend got shingles after her first vax.

Thanks Polly...Your friend was brave to go for second vaccine after the first one caused shingles, it must have been hard decision.

just to be clear nikol, we cannot know yet until the science confirms it that the vax triggers shingles, but we have to respect my friends experience and thank her for sharing it with us and making us aware of her situatio; and most importantly, yes she still values the protection the vaccine will afford her against covid, in spite of her having had shingles, and she will keep me informed as to her response to the second vaccine. have a lovely day and hope youenjoy the sunshine, sincere best wishes polly

Here’s a direct link to the Rheumatology journal. This study does not prove causation and is only 6 out of almost 600, 1.2%. So, a very small number. But, there may be something to it and it is something to be aware of so if it happens to you, get your doctor to prescribe an antiviral like acyclovir right at the beginning. Or, you can plan out you Shingles vaccine ahead of time (2 weeks from the COVID) followed by the second in 2-4 months.

thankyou DRunnerchick for supplying the direct link to the Rheumatology journal. As you so clearly state, 'it does not prove causation ..... ' but it is 'something to be aware of ' so we can take approriate action to protect ourselves in the event happens to us. with thanks, polly

thankyou for the information rocketman42, very much appreciated giving us all the headsup to be alert and watchout for this development and consequent study. have a good day, best wishes polly.
