Have I told you lately...I hate PMR!

So hears the deal...I 'm 8+ years on this journey...and thought I was nearing the end! Then bam!! A giant dragon jumped on my back, and once again, I am in the middle of the do-se-do of the PMR dance with Dragon. Symptoms of this flare are severe bilateral shoulder pain, and low back pain. After my usual period of denial...about 10 days of increasing pain, etc., I kicked my pred dose from 6.5 up to 20 mg then dropped to 15 and held for a week. Then dropped to 12.5 mg, where I am today. So...meanwhile...Dragon and I dance through the day, with Dragon restricting my activities and demanding the afternoon nap. No gardening in this lovely spring weather, and low mood .... oh well, I blame this flare on my Covid jab, which I would take anyway, since the flare is better than Covid... have others heard or experienced flare beginning 10 days or so..post jab?

First or second? I seemed to get away with Moderna jab 1 but the fatigue since 4 days after jab 2 has been unreal - was fine before.

With the pfizer jab I have been pretty low mood and many short lived pains. This was after an initial flare after about ten days. Have not been my old energetic self since. I was stuck at 3mg for many months and felt fine. God knows how I am going to get on with the second jab! Funny how some people feel nothing.

Pfizer...first dose fine.. second dose, not so fine. PMR flare took about 10 days to fully ripen... but ripen it did! The shoulder pain was horrific, thus 20 mg pred for a few days, then to 15, now 12.50.

Hello Purplecrow... I was a Pfizer girl, and had second dose last Tuesday. Felt fine until Thursday and then wham, felt horrid. Nausea, bilateral shoulder, hip, and neck girdle and back pain. Asthenia still, nearly a week now. Vaxit nurse said I should be asymptomatic with 2nd one... (yeah right!). I managed without upping the Pred, which stands now at 7 mgm. The first dose wasn’t as unpleasant. Hope you’re feeling better soon.💐

I hope this is short lived Purplecrow! I agree though, better than COVID for us. Get well soon! 💐

Purplecrow, I hope you feel better soon. I’ve had my first AstraZeneca and felt tired for a couple of days. So I felt I got off lightly. Not due the second jag for a few weeks. Fingers crossed that’s just as straightforward.

Thank you 😊

I had some fatigue after 1st Moderna, lots more after 2nd one, but no extra pain. Definitely sore arm after. Since I was going from 8 mg pred to 7.5mg at the same time ( dumb move, right?) also wondered if adrenal territory for me was part of the cause for fatigue. Hope all settles for you soon.

Gosh, I hope the flare is dealt with quickly Purplecrow. I've yet to get the vaccine and this post has given me a heads up, although I was already aware that there 'may' be a negative reaction. As you say, important ti get it nonetheless.
