Whilst some of us are lucky enough to have a GP who is clued up on our condition and gives us some leeway in managing things ourself there are others who struggle with feeling that they are to blame when symptoms get out of hand. I have a great GP who has said she trusts me to manage things and encourages me to take things slowly but on the others hand have a Rheumatologist who wants me to reduce medication as quickly as possible and in the grand scheme of things he has the last word. I do think it is sad when we are made to feel a failure at times when in fact we have no control at with how our bodies are going to react at any given time. It’s bad enough to be in pain and on medication that can have so many side effects without the added stress of trying to please or not displease our doctors.

I agree with you. They may have the wider view but they miss the detail and therefore the patient.

Oh no s/he does not............your body, your decision after you know all the facts and weighed them up. No-one knows how you actually feel, so listen to your body first it does 'talk' to you.

You don't HAVE to see the rheumy - I never went back to the one I saw.
Been there, had one like that...got rid of them!.......your pain not theirs...
I had a rheumatologist who on giving me pred was quite angry that my ESR had only gone down from 120 to 90. I still don’t know what I could have done about it.
