That used to happen to me - but not due to taking pred before bed. It seemed more to me to be the shedding of the inflammatory substances in the body.I suppose one way to investigate would be to take the pred at a different time?
Breakfast? Lunch? You will have to experiment a bit for what suits you best as well which way round - usually they say 2/3 in the morning but everyone is different and the 2am dose might make a difference. Splitting the dose often means you don't need to get up in the middle of the night for morning relief.
I’ve split my dose from the beginning and it seems to work well for me.
Shedding the inflammation is probably what is going on.
I’m just happy that I don’t have pain doing the slow tapering method. What the previous rheumatologist told me to do always made me flare and have to start over at 15 again.
