As a fairly new member to PMR I am doing lots of research as I am finding it quite difficult to accept and like everyone , I would like it to just disappear as quickly as it came. Accepting that it could last for quite a long time, even years is not easy. I just found this article on BBC which raises more concern as it suggests that people with PMR are likely to develop GCA. Is this the case?

Needs to be taken in context -
GCA and PMR commonly overlap.
PMR is observed in 40–60% of patients with GCA at diagnosis, and 16–21% of patients with PMR may develop GCA.
That means around 80% of patients with PMR will NOT develop GCA.
No point worrying about something that may never happen, but always wise to know the symptoms, just in case!
