GCA ...... in remission , hooray ! Off of steroids now after 41/2 years , still having methotrexate weekly as I have Rheumatoid ,and will have to take blood thinners for ever due to Atrial Fib, but I was on such a high when my Rhumatologist told me I was in remission and likely would stay there !! However .... there seems to always be a โ€œ howeverโ€ .... after 2 months , my rheumatoid is causing a lot of pain and stiffness all over now so I may have to go back on the dreaded steroids ,We have had a rather cool summer here in central victoria ( Aust) and being a warmth hog , I am not looking forward to another winter , although it doesnโ€™t get as cold here as in England, I would have to hibernate ! I do pray you are all safe as we battle through this horrid pandemic . Blessings and peace ! ๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

Well done on the GCA remission.

If you do need steroids for Rheumatoid Arthritis - although I thought itโ€™s a bit of a grey area - at least it will only be a low dose, and hopefully shouldnโ€™t cause any issues on the side effects line.

As youโ€™ve discovered Pred can mask a lot of things, and once youโ€™re off it, other aches and pains unrelated to GCA come back to life. In my case osteoarthritis.

Stay safe.

Pleased for you regarding GCA and I thank you for spreading hope and success.

It sounds as if even a low dose of pred will be enough to help - and maybe if it takes more they will move on from methotrexate. But at least one thing is out of the way :)
