I've heard that 2000 IU of D3 and 150 to 200 mcg of K2 (the MK-7 form) is recommended.

That said, I'd recommend getting a blood test and see where your vitamin D level is. Most people have a level that is way low, and may need to take larger amounts for a while to get it up to where it should be.

In my own case, my vitamin D level was 19 ng/mL, below the minimum recommended level of 20. The minimum level went up since then, with some now recommending a minimum of 40. After taking 5000 IU a day for 3 years, my level was up to 39, still slightly low.

Be aware that the K2 is important; that vitamin directs the calcium from your diet towards your bones (where you want it) instead of your blood vessels (where you don't want it). Since vitamin D increases absorption of calcium, you really should take K2 as well if you are taking vitamin D.
