I have PMR for one year

started on 40 mg prednisolone, down to 1 mg this month , having some pain in the shoulders and hips. Had some blood work done my C reactive protein is hi. 15.8. My rheumatologist suggested to go back to 3 mg. Going to get blood work done for a few months, see if it lowers. I am 70 years old and in the pasted two months I have been doing renovating our house. Installing hardwood floors, painting. Maybe I am doing too much. I feel good, just in the pasted two weeks the pain came back, started at the dose of 1 mg.

To get from 40mg to 1mg in a year is very fast - and to be honest if there is inflammation there I'd say it was just you have overshot the dose you need, maybe even 2mg was plenty but 1mg isn't. Prof Dasgupta told us in the summer that he often keeps patients at 2-3mg as it reduces the incidence of relapses/flares.

Did you take a steroid sparing drug also to get from 40 to 1mg ? I started same dose but still on 18mg !
